Our comprehensive services provide a “one-stop shop” approach to all your pet care needs.
Consultations
Thornleigh Vets are available for consultations 7 days a week. Appointments are preferred although walk-ins will be seen as soon as possible depending on urgency. Consultations are available 8:30am to Midday and 3pm to 7pm weekdays, 9am to 1pm Saturdays and 9am to Midday on Sundays.
Vaccinations
We offer vaccinations and annual check ups for dogs, cats and exotic pets. A vaccination consultation will include a full physical examination, dental check, weight check and discussion regarding any issues the pet may have. For more information on our most current vaccination protocols please speak to our staff.
Specialist Services
Inhouse specialist services are available for surgery and medical cases. For all other veterinary specialist assistance our vets will refer you to an appropriate specialist across Sydney. Please speak to our vets if you are interested in referral for your pet.
Surgery
Thornleigh Vet performs a wide range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery including desexings, lump removals, dentistry, amputations, fracture repairs, major abdominal surgery and cruciate repairs.
Free Dental Checks
A free dental check is available year round and cost estimates can be provided where dental work is recommended. Comprehensive dental procedures are performed within the hospital including dental digital x-rays. Discounts on dentistry apply if your pet is boarding with us and a free dental check can be performed on admission.
Wildlife
All injured or homeless wildlife are welcome at Thornleigh Vet Hospital and will be treated at no cost. Please ensure the animal is kept warm and safe before bringing up to the hospital and make sure you know the address of where the animal was found (as if releasable they will be released in this same spot if possible). For further advice please call Sydney Wildlife on 9413 4300 or go to their website https://www.sydneywildlife.org.au/. Please note it’s illegal for a member of the public to provide continued care of a wild animal so once we have cleared the animal of any health issues they will be passed on to a certified wildlife carer who will prepare and assess them for release.
Pet Export Services (AQIS)
Dr Prue Honson is AQIS-accredited and provides export services including rabies vaccinations, export blood tests and final health checks. For all enquiries please contact the clinic with your destination and date of departure.
Grooming
Haircuts are available for those patients that require sedation whilst receiving a clip. Our vets administer an appropriate sedative and our trained nurses complete a basic groom as per the owner’s instructions. Baths are also available.
Nail clips, Anal Glands & Wing Clips
These services are all available as a brief consult anytime within our opening hours. Bookings preferable.
Afterhours
As our hospital is closed overnight and patient’s are unsupervised we will often refer them to Northside Emergency Veterinary Service (NEVS) for afterhours monitoring. Occasionally stable patients may remain within the hospital and their level of care and supervision will be carefully explained prior to their stay. For all afterhours emergencies please call Northside Emergency Veterinary Service on 9452 2933. Please note this emergency centre offers FREE transfer of patients back to us on weekday mornings.
Prescription Medication Refills
Long term medication can be pre-ordered online.

Puppy Preschool
We run Puppy Preschool classes onsite as well as Manners classes and other options for puppy and dog training through Positive Puppies. This is a great way to teach your puppy life skills and get them loving their vet visits! Please book directly or enquire with reception for more information.
Housecalls
Thornleigh Vet offers housecalls to local clients and their pets particularly for euthanasias. These are subject to vet availability.
Pet Weight-loss clinic
Obesity can significantly impact an animal’s quality of life and cause serious health issues. It you have a fat cat or a pudgy pooch, talk to us about our weight loss clinic. We’ll work with you to develop a plan to get your pet back to a healthy weight. Learn More.

Cremation services
We offer cremation services when your pet passes, whether it be general cremation (no ashes returned) or a private cremation package through Patch & Purr.
Pensioner Discounts
We offer a 10% discount on the cost of all veterinary services and products. Please note that proof of eligibility, such as a pension card, is required.
Telemedicine
We offer Telemedicine consultations to our clients where appropriate. Please call us to book. For more information read out terms & conditions.
Deliveries to your door
Now your pets can also enjoy all those parcels being delivered to your door.In order to continue to support you and your pets we have introduced a delivery option for over the counter products. We can now order for you a much broader range of over-the-counter products ( including items we weren’t in the past able to stock in our practice). This means you can ensure your pets get what they need delivered to the comfort of your own home. Learn more
